"EDUCATION'S PURPOSE IS TO REPLACE AND EMPTY MIND WITH AN OPEN ONE." - MALCOLM S. FORBES
Apart from the original six-weeks, Dialogue on Race Louisiana offers other services and programs to its members and alumni. One never "graduates" from Dialogue; just like ending racism, education on institutional racism is a process. Dialogue on Race Louisiana continues this process through the following programs:
Advanced Series: The Advanced Series is open to all alumni of the original series. Over the four weeks, it covers the historic construction of race in America and uses the film, "Race" The Power of Illusion" as its core text. It answers many original series participants' questions of, "Why?" and "How?"
Monthly Happy Hours: Dialogue alumni and their guests gather to network, socialize, and discuss issues surrounding race or their experiences in dialogue. Happy Hour is a chance to meet alumni from other series and is a safe space to discuss race.
Featured Topic Dialogues: A DORLA facilitator leads a dialogue on a timely race-related topic. Feature Topic Dialogues are similar in structure to an original series session.
Round Table Discussion: Up to twelve participants come join four an hour-and-a-half discussion on a focused reading. Round-tables are hosted and led by Dialogue alumni.
